Guidelines to the CONTRIBUTORS

 

With a view to making Afro-Asian Journal of Rural Development (formerly, Journal of Rural Reconstruction) more useful to the readers, a specific facet of rural development is proposed to be featured as a theme. The theme for the next issue could be any of the following topics: crop insurance; development of rural infrastructure with private sector's participation; rural development : challenges in the 21st century; transparency and accountability in rural development projects; human resource development : strategies and policies; impact of liberalisation and globalisation on agriculture; mobilisation of rural poor into self-help groups; management of natural resources; production of food crops through non-chemical inputs (organic farming); role of information technology in rural development; post-harvest losses and technological advancement in horticulture crops; poverty alleviation through micro-finance; quantification of rural women's contribution; WTO and agriculture; role of irrigation techniques in improving food security; rural housing; rural energy; rural health; rural water supply and sanitation; rural industries; rural electrification; South-South cooperation and transfer of technology in rural development and alike. Researchers/officials who have done some work on the topics outlined above and other related aspects in their countries and have something interesting to contribute may send their articles in original to the Editorial Office for publication. The article may preferably be in 15-20 typed pages. Two copies of the article need to be submitted. The article can also be sent either in a floppy diskette (3.5 inches) or CD-ROM compatible to PC computer under windows 98 environment by using MS Word (6.0 version) or Page Maker (5.0 version and above) software. The author(s) may also send us an undertaking that the article has not been sent elsewhere for publication in verbatim or paraphrased form. Footnotes should be typed on a separate sheet at the end. Specimen of presentation style is given below.

 

It is also proposed to feature book review in the Journal on regular basis. The publisher(s)/author(s) who have something interesting to contribute on rural development may send the book(s) for review to the Editorial Office. The book may be returned after review, if so desired.

The author is entitled to ten (10) off-prints of his/her article and a complimentary copy of the issue in which the article appeared. There is a provision of token honorarium up to US $100 for foreign contributor and its equivalent in INR for Indian contributor.
