COLLABORATION WITH INTERNATIONAL/NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
During the period under review, AARDO signed the Memoranda of Understanding with the following
organizations:International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), New Delhi, India
AARDO and ICID have entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding on 09 December 2015 for organising
collaborative activities. The MoU, among others, lays
emphasis on jointly working for the expansion and
enhancement of water, agriculture and rural development
components, conducting joint research and consultation on
needs of current and future climate information products
related to agriculture water management, drought
management and flood management. In fact,
implementation of the MoU is in progress.
International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID),
established in 1950, is a leading scientific, technical and notfor-
profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).
Headquartered in New Delhi, ICID facilitates sharing of experiences and transfer of water management technology. It supports capacity development, stimulates research and innovation and strives to promote policies and programmes to enhance sustainable development of irrigated agriculture through a comprehensive water management framework.
The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), Khartoum, Sudan
The Secretary General during his visit to the Republic of the Sudan from 30 January to 3 February 2016 in connection with the organization of the 67th Session of the Executive Committee in Khartoum, called on the Director General, The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and explored the possibility of collaborative activities. During the course of the discussions, the Bank has agreed, in principle, to support a
project in Gambia.
Ahfad University for Women (AUW), Omdurman, Sudan
While in Sudan, the Secretary General also met Prof. Gasim Badri President, Ahfad University for Women (AUW)
and discussed matters of common interest. During discussions, the Hon’ble President expressed his University’s willingness to join AARDO as its Associate Member.
Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), Khartoum, Sudan
The Secretary General also called on the Deputy Secretary General, Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) in Khartoum and explored the possibility of collaboration between the two organizations.
