CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME UNDER ADDITIONAL
TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTION PROVIDED BY GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
FOR CURRENT TRIENNIUM (2015-2017)
The esteemed Government of India has re-allocated the additional technical contribution of US$ 600,000 to be utilized during the current triennium (2015-2017) for the capacity building of the participants from AARDO member countries. To implement the programmes during the triennium, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and AARDO in November 2016.
Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM)

The PGDRDM aims at creating a committed and competent cadre of rural development professionals. While laying the theoretical foundations, the programme seeks to impart management techniques in order to enhance understanding of the paradigm and practices of rural development. It is based on seven hours of class room attendance and five hours of home work per day in terms of preparation for assignments and presentations. Besides, the field work and organizational attachment (internship) under the programme are rigorous with structural exercises, reporting and presentations.
During the period under review, five (05) candidates, one each from Iraq, Malaysia, Nigeria, Sudan and Zambia were screened and selected by a panel of experts through telephonic interview held at the AARDO Secretariat on 29 June 2017. Out of five selected candidates, three (03) candidates are attending the programme. However, two candidates, one each from Malaysia and Nigeria could not attend the programme due to non-granting of paid leave by their respective governments.
