AARDO enjoys Observer status with the specialized agencies of the UN and other international organisations. These include FAO, IFAD, UNESCO, UNCTAD, LAS, ICA, AOAD, CIRDAP, etc. It is proposed to have more active collaboration with these and other international organisations through participation in each others meetings and exchange of publications. In the past such collaborations with the ICA and the CIRDAP have culminated in organising jointly international workshops/seminars and conferences on cost sharing basis.  Efforts to forge close cooporation and collaboration with AOAD has borne fruits with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding  for Cooperation between the two organizations. Efforts to establish linkage with these and other international, regional and national level agencies involved in agriculture and rural development are being continued in the triennium 2006-2008.

During the previous triennium (2003-2005), AARDO had entered into the Memoranda of Understanding with Regional Centre on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development for the Near East (CARDNE), Amman, Jordan; National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NIMSME), Hyderabad, India; International Tropical Fruits Network (TFNet), Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia; Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Lusaka, Zambia, in the areas of agricultural and rural development, industries, etc., with a view to forge greater relations with these institutions. AARDO also hopes to enter into collaboration with similar other organizations during the triennium 2006-2008.
